Gospel singer Diana Hamilton won VGMA Artist Of The Year Award 2021

History has been made again for the gospel music fraternity in Ghana as thriving award-winning gospel singer Diana Hamilton picks up the prestigious and ultimate Artiste of The Year Award at the VGMA 2021, making her the first female to have won the award.

Prior to the award’s night, Diana has been tipped by many to be the favorite ahead of others for this award which is the second time the ultimate has been won by a gospel artiste.

Joe Mettle has made history for the very first time in 2017 and fasts forward to 2021, it is the time of Adom hit singer Diana Hamilton.

In total, Diana Hamilton picked up 4 awards on the night, making her the top awardee on the night. She won the Gospel Artiste of the Year, Gospel Song of the Year, Popular Song of the Year, and Coveted Artiste of The Year.

Her viral song “Adom (Grace)” was widely accepted by both Ghanaian and her international fans, with lots of people not getting enough of it.

Countless individuals have used the song for their weddings, parties, and has become an anthem in churches.

Kellyrae Emerges Winner Of BBNaija Season 9

Kellyrae on Sunday was crowned the winner of this year’s Nig Brother Naija Season 9, taking home the grand prize of N60 million, an SUV, and other rewards.

He pipped fellow housemate Wanni who emerged runer-up and Onyeka. who emerged as the second runner-up.

Kellyrae now joins the likes of last season’s All-Stars winner Ilebaye Odiniya (Gen Z Baddie) to claim the grand prize.

Regarded as Nigeria’s most anticipated TV show, this season’s theme ”No Loose Guard”, which premiered on July 24, 2024, welcomed 14 pairs of housemates,

However, only one pair and six individual contestants made it to the final.

The other finalists were Victoria, Ozee, Sooj, Nelly, and Anita.

This year’s edition had an unusual twist as the participants were required to apply in pairs.

Among the eight finalists, Kellyrae, Victoria, and Wanni were considered favourites by many viewers to make the top three and earn final podium spots

The finale was a star-studded affair, featuring performances from popular artistes Joseph Akinfewa-Donus, aka Joeboy, and Chimamanda Chukwuma, popularly referred to as Qing Madi.

How Gospel Musician, Aduke Gold Died

The Chairman of Yemi Sonde Media Group, owner of the popular radio, YES FM, Mr Yemi Sonde, has revealed what led to the death of the popular Gospel musician Aduke Gold.

The news of her passing filtered in in the midnight on Tuesday while the cause of her death was unknown as of the time the news broke.

Mourning the gifted musician on a Radio Programme, Sonde disclosed that Aduke Gold died during fibroid surgery in the hospital.

He said, her cause of death was what many women had passed through and came out alive but Aduke Gold was unlucky.

Sonde said, “When I was about to sleep around 12 in the midnight, I saw the news on the social media, I could not believe it.

“I then picked my phone to call Aduke Gold. I called her like six times, she did not pick up.

“She went to do Fibroid Operation like any other woman but she could not come out of the theater alive. It is painful.”

FG bans money rituals, other vices in Nollywood movies

The Federal Government has placed a ban on money rituals and glamourizing of vices in Nigerian movies.

The Executive Director/CEO of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), Dr Shaibu Husseini, disclosed this at a National Stakeholders Engagement on Smoke-Free Nollywood in Enugu on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

Movie producers, directors, and actors drawn from different parts of the country, as well as leaders of various guilds and associations in Nollywood were present at the event.

Husseini said: “We are facing an industry emergency requiring bold and ambitious actions from all parents, guardians and stakeholders.

“When my predecessor approached the former Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, on the need to make subsidiary legislation to curtail the display of smoking in Nigerian movies, he saw the need to include money rituals.

“Others included in the regulation are ritual killings and glamourizing other crimes in order to further sanitize the film industry.

“Today, I am delighted to announce to you that the Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, pursuant to section 65 of the NFVCB Act 2004 has approved the regulation.

“The minister has approved the Prohibition of Money Ritual, Ritual Killing, Tobacco, Tobacco Products, Nicotine Product Promotion and Glamorization display in Movies, Musical Videos and Skits Regulations 2024.”

“We have also forwarded the approved copy to the Federal Ministry of Justice for Gazette.”

The NFVCB boss added that the sensitization programme was to educate stakeholders on the danger inherent in smoking in Nigerian movies.

According to him, besides the health implications, glamourizing smoking in films poses a negative influence on teens and young adults who constitute the largest segment of Nigerian movie viewers.

He noted that the board was set to undertake detailed enlightenment programmes in secondary schools, tertiary institutions, local communities, religious groups, and other institutions.

It is the duty of the NFVCB to register all film and video outlets across the country and to keep a register of such registered outlets among other functions.
