The Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, Sen. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele has congratulated the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the occasion of the commemoration of his 71st Birthday Anniversary on March 29, 2023.
In a statement issued by his Media Office on Wednesday, the federal lawmaker who also doubles as the Chairman, Southern Senators’ Forum said he joined the Tinubu’s family and his teeming disciples, supporters and admirers in Nigeria and around the globe to celebrate his glowing leadership attributes, strength of character, courage and resilience, cosmopolitan personality, relational values, his spirit of generosity and large-heartedness which over the years, have continued to pave way for him in the Nigerian political terrain and other areas of interest.
Bamidele pointed out that at 71, Tinubu has impacted immensely in almost every facet of the nation’s socio-economic and political life, which eventually climaxed into his election as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, adding that the good people of Nigeria are earnestly waiting to witness the rapid transformation of the country through his midas touch.
According to Bamidele, “inspite of the initial hiccups, pockets of irregularities and disputation that trailed the 25th February, 2023 presidential and national assembly elections, the outcome of the election has come to stay and Nigeria is already marching forward in her fledging democratic enterprise without let or hindrance. Going by the wishful thinking of some doubting Thomases and the unwitting illusion of anti-democratic elements, the election would have been cancelled or declared inconclusive, thereby taking the nation several steps backward in her political trajectory”
Bamidele maintained that without prejudice to the cases filed in the court by Tinubu’s opponents challenging the outcome of the elections, Tinubu snd his formidable team are prepared to hit the ground running by tackling the nation’s myriad of challenges headlong.
Bamidele said that no amount of mudslinging, arm twisting, hate speech, misguided outbursts and propaganda from the opposition can distract or deter the All Progressives Congress and the President-elect and his team from getting set to move the nation forward.
In his words, Bamidele said “I personally felicitate with the Jagaban of Borgu for his laudable victory in the protracted battle which dates back to the eventful but most trying period of intrigues and politicking that characterized the APC presidential primaries. I equally commend him for his uncommon courage, resilience, hard work, Spartan discipline, legendary faith, focus and determination that saw him through the entire process. It is, therefore, imperative that the much awaited Tinubu presidency must espouse values that could further promote competence, strengthen national unity, cohesion and integration in Nigeria.
“On this occasion of your 71st Birthday Anniversary, I wish our esteemed President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu more fruitful, productive and rewarding years ahead even as I also wish him and his ebullient Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima a very refreshing and eventful inauguration into office on 29th May, 2023. I equally wish them a most peaceful, successful, prosperous and memorable tenure in office”
